As a picture framer, I like to get involved with my community. The best place to learn from the masters in the industry, is to attend workshops and to enter the annual Framing Awards by the Fine Art Trade Guild.

In 2013 both of my entries were finalists in the Guild Challenge competition, amongst the top six nationwide. The Guild CEO, Louise Hay said that if there were a "Best in Show", I would have won it. Coming from her, I was pretty pleased with her remark.

In 2014, to my surprise, the Fine Art Trade Guild introduced a new "Best in Show" award which combines the Guild Challenge and the Best Mount Design categories.

The "Best in Show" was awarded to The Framing Lady. The given theme was "A Day Trip to London" and I framed Piccadilly Circus with a slide show of all the must see tourists attractions, as part of the digital panels of the building behind the Eros statue. The mosaic trim highlights the Piccadilly Line's subway tiles which are black, white and blue.

I entered my business in the Hertfordshire Business Awards 2012 in the "New Business of the Year" category, where it was nominated as a finalist as well.

"The Best of" brand in the UK has an annual competition during February building up to Valentine's Day. Local people vote for their favourite businesses. The Framing Lady was  "Most Loved Business" in its category in town as well as in the UK in 2012 and 2013. Hahaha, share the love!

On local grounds in South Africa, I like to offer two "Fantastic Art Framing Awards" to scholars at Mount Richmore Curro School at their annual art exhibition.

My goal with this is to introduce up and coming artists to the value of framing and how the process of picture framing can enhance their stunning artwork. I have done so in the past at Kingshott Primary School in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, UK and inspired scholars and parents alike.
